Strange Group of Folk
It being everyone’s favorite green-beer drinking holiday--Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Because most of my readers will be indulging in some liquid happiness on this accord, here’s a short rant:
I’ve never been a fan of prosecutors. No offense to those of you in my coterie of friends who are one or are in love with one (you know who you are). They are, overall, a strange group of peeps.
Take for example the prosecutors in Maryland who brought down the mayor, Sheila Dixon. Apparently, these fine public servants have decided that it would behoove them to put the spoils of their prosecutorial efforts on eBay for a profit.
Of note, now listed, is an Xbox 360 that was seized during a raid at the former mayor’s home. The highest bid is around $700. Her two fur coats and a camcorder are going up for auction soon, State Prosecutor Robert Rohrbaugh stated. The former mayor was convicted by a grand jury for embezzling gift cards that were donated to the city for its neediest families. Needless to say, she is no longer mayor.
Somehow, I would like to think that any property seized in a legal proceeding would be immune from internet auction—but maybe I just don’t have a prosecutorial mindset…
