Gee, I'm Happy - Let's Riot???!!!!
Somewhere on my quest for normalcy and understanding the average human psyche, I've just baffled myself silly. When did rioting turn into a way to channel or express your happiness?
Seriously, I'm lost on this phenomena. Why do some people turn to flipping cars over, breaking into stores and stealing, looting, setting cars on fire and the like to express their excitement over, say, an NBA Finals victory? What is wrong with these people?

I've lived through this with the Chicago Bulls. Though I was little, I remember when many in Chicago would turn to violence whenever the Bulls won the championship. This didn't happen much recently with the Blackhawks win--thankfully! However, apparently, with yesterday's Lakers' victory, the hooligans were out and about, causing way more than the traditional drunken raucous. The LA Times reports the following: "Crowds hurl bottles and other objects at police, smash marquees, jump on vehicles, break windows and light a small fire along Figueroa Street. At least one person is beaten unconscious."
Come again? What is wrong with people? When I'm happy, the last thing I want to do is lash out in anger.
It seems that there is way more going on that mere happiness and excitement. I would go so far as to call it jealousy. Some people just cannot handle others' happiness and this might explain their crazy reactions.
This isn't the way that civilized people act. Further, if some people act this way if they are happy, just imagine how they will react if they are actually angered.
Look out.

Wow!, this was a real quality post. In theory I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real effort to make a good article... but what can I say... I keep putting it off and never seem to get something done.
